Where are Hanson? Judging by the loads of mail we've received, most of you want to know what's
going on with those Hanson brothers. So, we went ahead and found out what the Tulsa Trio
is up to Hanson have all but disappeared recently. Their last album "This Time Around"
wasn't the huge hit it was expected to be and "If Only" and "This Time
Around" were the only singles released. However, the boys issued an internet only
video for their song "Save Me" which is directed by the guys themselves! (find
it at ) And as for their promised Aussie tour, well that
doesn't seem likely either. We chatted with the boys about what's been and their
plans for the future You won't tour "This Time Around" anymore, will you? Taylor: Not currently, not for this album. Zac: We're really done with this. Taylor: Right now, we're taking a little bit of a break and then starting with the
new music. I mean we're kind of ahead of ourselves, but we really wanna get the next
record out much much sooner than the last two. Zac: That's just skeptical though, I mean for the musician. You know, make a
record, just thinking about touring, then you're thinking about the record. Right now
we're thinking about what were going to do. Taylor: Yeah, we're already having music that didn't get put on this last
record, but we're beginning to get on top of that. There were rumours that your record label was going to drop you. Are you staying with
the same label? (Note to reader: First time I've heard this!) Taylor: Yeah, we're still with Island/Def Jam and we plan to stay with them until
we do another record. We're just really psyched to do that, we just want to musically
kick down and take a little break and let our brains rest for a couple months. Do you think you might pursue any other careers? Zac: Movies and stuff like that has definitely been offered. I'm sure if
there's something that you're really interested in you'll pursue that. But
at the moment music is the focus. Taylor: In the long term, yeah, I know we'll pursue other things whether it's
writing for other people, writing with other artists, producing records for people, music
for movies, maybe even acting. But it's all separate. What do you think of your "innocent" image? Taylor: Well, we may be little devils, but whether or not we're innocent
Zac: We're not. No we're not little devils, but I think because, we
don't um, smoke crack
you know? Ike:
Go out and get drunk out of our minds. Taylor: Exactly. We're normal guys, with inner brains. Ike: We definitely do some stupid stuff. Taylor: We do dumb stuff, stupid teenager stuff. All of that, but we're not
necessarily dumb. Ike: We're not destructive to other people's property or to ourselves. Zac: But it also has to do with the fact that, I mean, we also have a job. I'm 15
so I think a lot more about stuff, like I've got to do this tomorrow or I can't
break my leg because I've gotta play drums. Taylor: I think we just, we definitely do plenty of dumb teenager stuff but whether we
are angels or not is for everyone else to debate (Laughs). Why are you putting an end to MOE (their fanzine Middle Of Everywhere)? Taylor: The thing is, on our end they don't realise how hard it is to distribute a
magazine and just small things occur. All: People move! Ike: And they never tell you! Taylor: They expect you to send them your magazine, without telling you the new address
and you've got to guess where to send it. It's just so much harder to maintain
it. We love doing it but to put it on the internet, it wouldn't be the same. We will
do stuff like MOE. I think that the fans have to understand we love the fact they've
gotten into it and we really appreciate how much they've embraced it, but we've
come to a point where we realized we need to be able to reach more people than we have
with them at the fan club. You have people in Australia, the people in Europe that
can't get the magazine. What we're going to try to do is maintain some kind of
actual magazine which we put out periodically as an item that anybody can get hold of on
the internet. Who knows? Maybe we'll start the magazine up by the year again. What is the weirdest fan experience you've had? Taylor: You have the crying, you have the people that do weird things or sneak into
places, come to your hotel, try to get into your bus, but the times where you meet
somebody and they REALLY do freak out, they can't leave and then they have to be
dragged away by people. Ike: I think that happened a few times. Zac: I think the funniest thing was when this girl walked up and she's like,
"Hi Tay, hi Taylor I'm not a psycho fan, I'm not a psycho
fan!""
Hi Zac, hi Zac GAWWWD!" Taylor: By the time she got to Zac she really, really, just, like, lost it and we were
like, "Wow, that's just so crazy." We had guys at the signing help take her
out because she
Ike: She was kind of just physically going nuts. Taylor: That hardly ever happens though. Most fans are really, really cool.
There's just a few situations where somebody is a bit more wacky excited than they
should be.
