It is not surprising that Taylor Hanson has a serious dependency coffee addiction to juggle two bands, a record label and four kids.

`You (also) have to have an absolutely incredible wife. She makes it possible,'' Hanson, 26, says of his wife, Natalie.

He's recording the latest Hanson album with the group he formed with brothers Isaac and Zac in the 1990s and who shot to fame with their worldwide smash MMMBop in 1997. It is Tinted Windows, the new band he's fronting with guitarist James Iha, formerly of Smashing Pumpkins, drummer Bun E. Carlos, from Cheap Trick, and bassist Adam Schlesinger, from Fountains of Wayne, that he's keen to talk about.

`The main thing is that the whole core of the style's different. The Tinted Windows' project is kind of power pop. It's very straight-ahead. There are no soul music influences. It's all late '70s, early '80s,'' he says, grateful to be able to explore new projects and keep making music with his brothers.
